Flakes or crystals forming in the solution and rising to the top indicate windy weather. The solution becoming dull means the weather may deteriorate, and rain will fall. Small floating spots indicate fog. Crystals at the bottom mean strong wind or frost. Before starting work in a new place, the storm glass should stabilize for 7-10 days. When the device becomes crystal clear, place it in a location that is not subject to sharp temperature changes and protected from direct sunlight.
