Colored rivets are used to connect materials as an alternative to sewing, for additional reinforcement of seams like pockets on favorite jeans, or simply as a decorative element. The rivet is inserted into the hole from one side, a washer is placed on the other side, and then the rivet is secured by flaring the rivet. They work best for dense materials like Panama hats, sweatshirts, or textile straps. For thin fabric like a t-shirt, it should be folded 2-3 times.
